However hard I prepare myself not to react, you still seem to side swipe me!  Yesterday you learned the word "buttcrack" and were caught telling "bad jokes" about bottoms. Ugh!  Thankfully, you and your dad had a great conversation, which reinforced wise words already given by Mrs. Hunt.  (who is best kindergarten teacher EVER)

This morning your dad reminded you to not use that word or any others concerning body parts.  You said, "Ok, I'll think I'll just talk to the guys about science stuff, you know, like skeletons and stuff."  ...whatever you need to do, son, whatever you need to do!

Sooooo, received your first ever report card!  Not sure when they started using percentages in Kindergarten, was expecting a bunch of E's and SA's (which there were) but it took me like 10 minutes to decipher this thing!  And I realized something BIG...your mom's standard is perfection!  While you received many A's and E's, there were some SA's (gasp), a B+ (my heart almost stopped) and, yes, I'm going to say it....a few NI's!!!!!

My first thought...."I'm a failure!"  B+ in handwriting?  NI in memorizing your phone number and address???  (you thought your phone number was 911, cute but apparently cuteness does not move you up to an E).

As I was looking at this and talking out loud, I could see your sweet face start to look concerned and disappointed.  And then it hit me....I was expecting perfection from a kindergartner!  And instead of congratulating you on a really great report card, I was seeing all the imperfections.  Oh my sweet boy, I'm so sorry!  You are doing amazing and learning so much that I can barely keep up with it!

My own motherly pride wanted all A's and E's, which is ridiculous since I know how many times you get in trouble on a daily basis.  So, while your first report card was pretty impressive....your mom's was a D, and that's being generous.

You are definitely in the school groove now.  You still have things to tell us every day...no where near as much and I'm continually getting a sign as you answer my questions, but we are at least still communicating.  Get used to it...I'm not going to stop asking!

One of the great things about you attending a private school is that parents can bring snacks to the classrooms!  Last week one of your little friends, who is a girl =), had a birthday and her mom brought a cookie from the Cookie Company!  You were so excited and talked and talked and TALKED about it!  Your birthday was this week and your mama was totally going to top a bought cookie!  Homemade rice krispie treats with chocolate drizzled on and candy corns decorating the middle. Oh yeah! They were beautiful and ready to go for Tuesday.

Monday you came to the car so excited because one of your classmates gave everyone rice krispie treats!  They were in the shape of Mickey Mouse with the ears dipped in chocolate!!!  Seriously!!!???  Her mom was so kind, thoughtful and generous to bring them all actually from Disney World!  HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO COMPETE WITH THAT!!!?????

Apparently, I'm having some issues.

Oooooooo, you know your mama's head exploded when I saw this!  Your first official test!  And we are so proud of you!  Last few weeks have been full of practicing your letter blends and numbers in the 50 family!  Whew...so exciting!

Okay, Friday was your our first parent/teacher conference.  I sat in the parking lot and wondered why I was sweating like a pig since this was your evaluation!  Ha!  Caleb, you are so blessed with an amazing teacher!  Mrs. Hunt is wonderful and she is just what you need!  She said you are such a great little boy and that she uses you for examples all the time on how to sit still and listen!  She said you always obey and have a sweet smile on your face.  You are doing well academically and she loves your excitement to learn!
WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!
This, of course, could change this next week, but we are really praying it doesn't!  Keep it up, son!
You LOVE LOVE LOVE art class!  You said your teacher said to wear these to "look cute", and oh it works!  You told me you didn't like the pink part but still liked it.  =)
